Vicki Addison sings soprano with The Joys. Her father, Blackie Spangler, became part of the group in the early 1960's when the group was known as the Joy Quartet. When she was still a teen, Vicki joined her father in the group. Vicki has used her musical talents singing and directing both church and community choirs. She has one daughter, Rachel, a son-in-law, Tom and two grandchildren, Connor and Harley. Vicki works for a local bank in Virginia Beach.
James joined the group in 1979 as the Joys' pianist. Later, he began singing tenor with them as well. Vicki and James married in December of 1984. He has penned many songs recorded by The Joys and produced several projects for local artists. James retired from banking and is currently working for a mortgage company. He is also proud to be "Pops" to Connor and Harley.
Kim Johnson is the alto for The Joys. She grew up singing with her family, the Johnson Sisters Trio and the Good News Family Singers. She has a degree in Sacred Music from Southeastern FWB College and has taught music and voice. Kim joined James and Vicki in February of 1991. She is an experienced worship leader and choir director. She is a Gifted Resource Teacher in Virginia Beach. Kim comes from a large family and she is the aunt (the FAVORITE aunt) to many nieces and nephews.
